Unbound Trajectories Of The Future

To mark the 30th anniversary of the Goethe-Institut Georgia, we are presenting the exhibition “Unbound Trajectories of the Future.”

For the past three decades, since the early 1990s, the Goethe-Institut has continuously collaborated with Georgia’s dynamic and often controversial creative and cultural scene. To celebrate our 30th anniversary, we invited artists to explore the future of the Goethe-Institut and its work over the next 30 years. From temporal, spatial, and conceptual perspectives, the participants developed their visions and utopian ideas about the opportunities and challenges of the coming years. This “Atlas of the Future” explores technological, ecological, and social developments. The Goethe-Institut is committed to artistic freedom, cultural exchange, and co-creation, and fosters dialogue between diverse communities to forge relevant connections within the cultural landscapes of the future.

With this exhibition, the Goethe-Institut offers a platform for collaboration and opens its doors and resources to creative endeavors. Our aim is to create a space for collaborative research through this process, where diverse perspectives converge to shape the evolving history of the institute.

The exhibition encompasses a broad thematic spectrum, exploring language, the environment, humanity, technology, migration, memory, architecture, and forms of communication. It is interpreted through 12 group and individual projects by 19 artists working in Georgia. These projects, most of which emerged from an open competition specifically for this exhibition, showcase a wide range of media and perspectives.
